Download, Sign In & Start Playing

This version uses the revised screenshot sequence and keeps the instructions page-by-page. It is safe to share because personal account details in the screenshots have been removed or obscured.

Open Account → Download

Start from the official Minecraft website.

  1. 1Open Minecraft.net.
  2. 2Select ACCOUNT in the upper-right corner.
  3. 3Choose DOWNLOAD from the menu.
  4. 4Skip Buy Now because Minecraft is already purchased.
Note: This guide assumes the player already owns Minecraft and already has a Microsoft account.

Download for Windows

Use the owned-PC download option.

  1. 1On the download page, find “Already own Minecraft for PC?”.
  2. 2Select DOWNLOAD FOR WINDOWS.
  3. 3Ignore the Buy Minecraft option on the left.

Save MinecraftInstaller.exe

Download the installer file.

  1. 1When the save dialog opens, keep the file name MinecraftInstaller.exe.
  2. 2Choose a location such as Downloads.
  3. 3Select Save and wait for the file to finish downloading.

Open the Launcher

Start the installer and sign-in flow.

  1. 1Open MinecraftInstaller.exe after the download finishes.
  2. 2Let Windows install and open Minecraft Launcher.
  3. 3In the launcher, select SIGN IN WITH MICROSOFT.

Enter the Microsoft Account

Use the account that owns Minecraft.

  1. 1Enter the Microsoft email address, phone number, or Skype name.
  2. 2Select Next.
  3. 3Do not create a new account.
Note: Use the existing Microsoft account connected to the Minecraft purchase.

Choose “Use my password”

For this guide, use password sign-in.

  1. 1On the “Choose a way to sign in” screen, select Use my password.
  2. 2Do not choose face, PIN, email, or text message for this guide.
  3. 3Continue to the password-entry screen.

Enter the Password

Complete Microsoft sign-in.

  1. 1Enter the Microsoft account password.
  2. 2Select Sign in.
  3. 3Use “Other ways to sign in” only if the password is unavailable.
Note: Never share the password or verification codes when helping someone.

Confirm the Xbox Profile

Verify the correct game profile.

  1. 1Review the Xbox profile screen.
  2. 2If it is the correct profile, select Let’s go.
  3. 3If it is the wrong profile, select “Sign in with a different account”.

Launcher Ready — Choose Edition and Play

Minecraft is installed and signed in.

  1. 1The launcher should open with the Microsoft account shown in the upper-left corner.
  2. 2Choose Minecraft: Java Edition or Minecraft: Bedrock Edition from the left side.
  3. 3If the launcher opens to another tab like Realms, click Play.
  4. 4Select Install if prompted, then select Play.
Note: The launcher may open to Home, Realms, or another tab first. That is normal.
